Questions I Have

'He will send you a soul mate you won't have to chase after.' -Adam Cappa

So, where do I draw the line, and how fine should it be? Where am I pushing too much or expecting too much (from Him and/or the potential Mr. Forever)? Can I fall in love with someone who is not a Christian? Can I control who I fall in love with? If I fall in love with someone who does not love my God as I do, is that a sin? Is my desire to share my faith with him, in hopes of planting a seed for the Spirit to tend to and hopefully bloom in his heart, so that we can live happily ever after such a bad thing? How will I know?

What if God has shown me the 'one' He has for me at this point in my life and I didn't give that person the time of day? What now? Is there another? Am I to believe there is just one 'soul mate' for everyone? 7.3 billion people on Earth and God has set only one aside for me? 159 million men in America, and I am to believe God has set aside just one for me? I only need one, but who's to say that only one exists? Only one person on earth is meant to catch my eye, steal my heart, and worship my God with me?

Is there something wrong with me? Is there a reason Mr. Forever may not be in my life yet? Is there a reason my ring finger and the other side of the bed are still vacant? What is God's plan with me? Am I where I am supposed to be? If God is all I need, then why do I yearn for a man in my life? Does that mean I am making God smaller, less important? How much work should I be putting into this search for my Mr. Forever? God calls some people to be single, is that my calling? If yes, then why does not a day go by that I don't wish Mr. Forever was here?

How content am I supposed to be, where is the line? Am I where I am today because of past mistakes? Did I mess up something that was meant to blossom into something beautiful years ago? What do I do with these unexpected single years? Why has life not panned out like I mapped out in my mind in 7th grade?

God has given me these single years for a reason, there is a purpose, but how will I know that this purpose has been fulfilled? How do I keep myself from squandering them away while I wait for Mr. Forever?

I wish God would text me a picture, and be like,
'Rach, this guy right here. His heart is solid, his intentions well, and he is the man I intend for you to spend the rest of your life on earth with. {Insert time and date of first interaction with said man}  #worshippartner #areyouready #youarewelcome #lookathim #ainthenice  #prayerpartner #keepmefirst #praytogethersticktogether #marriagevowsareforevervows'

***Because of course, if God texted He would totally hashtag! #likeaboss #TheBoss

Needless to say, this girl needs some soul-feeding time with her King while she waits for her prince. He is the only one with the ability to answer my questions.

Mmm. Jamie Grace nails it on the head in her song 'The Waiting' check it out here!

Overwhelmed?

It is not on every page in the scriptures that you will find the verse to inspire you, the passage to calm your worrying heart, the chapter that you feel God has just led you to right now in this moment in your life. But here is one that I have found to always brings me encouragement in this crazy story I call life these days. One that I flip back to, that reminds me who I am, who God is and what He is capable of, even in my most chaotic of days.

'From the ends of the earth I call to you, I call as my heart grows faint; lead me to the rock that is higher than I." Psalm 61:2 (NIV)

Understanding this verse does not require deciphering for interpretation, but I draw two things from this text when reading it:

1} I will never be too far for God to hear my cries for help.
No matter where I am physically: at work, at home, or at play. No matter where I am emotionally: drained, joyous, depressed, blessed, or weary. No matter where I am spiritually (only God and myself know where I am spiritually at this time). He always hears my cry for help. No matter what, His ears are always open.

2} When I feel like I am at the edge of my limits, God is my strength and refuge. With one arm He can lift me up to reside in Him.
Sometimes life is hard to handle, the valleys seeming to occur more frequent than the highs. In those times I find it easy to forget that I am not alone in this walk, that I have a God who is a safe harbor. When life gets tough, sometimes we convince ourselves that God is not for us anymore. We convince ourselves that maybe He has taken a time-out, maybe my life is just too much for Him to handle. But rest easy, you are the son or daughter of the One who parted the Red Sea. He is able to handle anything you may experience in your life, and no matter what, when you think it is beyond your own handling, He will be there to pick up the slack.

David's (the Psalmist's) soul was overwhelmed. He felt obligated to be obedient to God and also felt all the temptations that came from being in the midst of severe trials and troubles. And yet, God put those words upon his heart, 'when my heart is overwhelmed, lead me to the Rock that is higher than I.' When we find ourselves at that point, that is when the temptations are the strongest. We find that not only are we troubled by our present circumstances, but also by what Satan tries to tell us about the future. In this constantly changing and troubling world, we need to seek the strength of our unchanging God. Trouble can be beneficial when it causes us to desire the help and presence of God. What a blessing to know that there is a place of shelter available to us when we cry out to our God, He is a strong tower that our enemies cannot climb or penetrate. No matter what. :)

What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Are there any Bible verses that encourage you, especially in those times?

Field Guide to Heaven

Romans road to salvation

The road is marked by a selected group of verses from Romans in the New Testament. If you walk this road, you will hopefully end up understanding how to be saved, and why it is necessary. If you are already saved, then you will have at your fingertips and disposal everything you need to help bring others to a relationship with our Father. This road defines who needs salvation, and why. How God provides us with it, and how we receive it, and the results of doing so. This road is not as long as you think, and it all starts with a single step of faith.

Romans 3:23 "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;"
Admit that you are a sinner. We are all sinners by nature and by choice. No one is perfect, no not one. And all of us fall short of God's holy standards. So who needs this salvation? Everyone. Why? Because we are sinners, we fall short, we do not deserve, yet if we ask we will receive it.

Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
Understand that you deserve death for your sin, and ask God to forgive you for your sin. We receive eternal life as a free gift. Repent and be saved.

Romans 5:8 "But God commendeth His love towards us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."
Give your life to God. His love poured out on the cross for you is your only hope to have forgiveness and change. His love bought you out of slavery to sin. His love is what saves you, not religion, not attending church. God loves you. He demonstrated His love for us, His enemies.

Romans 10:9-10 "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."
We must trust and surrender to Jesus Christ. We must confess it with as mouths as well as believe it in our hearts.

Romans 10:13 "For whoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."
Call out to God in the name of Jesus. There is our assurance of salvation through Jesus.

If you believe these words put forth by Jesus, pray to Him, tell Him, and then be sure to seek out a Bible-believing church that will nurture and help you grow in your relationship with God in your newfound faith. It is vital for your spiritual health. Be sure to tell someone, let someone know of your exciting news, find someone who is saved to help show you how to jumpstart your growth. Then shout it from the mountaintops, proclaim it to the world, for none are worthy, no not one, but all are in need of this Savior.
